Twilio SMS notifications
Send automated SMS notifications for order updates, abandoned carts, and new orders directly from ReadyCMS using the Twilio API.
Twilio SMS notifications for ReadyCMS
Twilio SMS notifications connects ReadyCMS to Twilio to send timely SMS updates in response to important store events.
Customers can receive automatic messages when an order is created, shipped, or delivered. The plugin can also send abandoned cart recovery messages after a configurable period, helping bring customers back to incomplete purchases.
Each notification can be enabled or disabled independently, and every message can be customized using templates and dynamic order information. Administrators can also receive an SMS whenever a new order is placed, making it easier to stay informed even when they are away from the ReadyCMS dashboard.
A Twilio account and an SMS-capable Twilio phone number are required to use the plugin.
Key benefits
Keep customers informed
Automatically send SMS updates when orders are created, shipped, or delivered, giving customers clear information throughout the order process.
Recover abandoned carts
Send automated recovery messages to customers who leave the store without completing their purchase. The delay before sending the message can be configured according to your store’s workflow.
Customize every message
Create custom SMS templates for each notification type and include dynamic information such as the customer’s name, order number, total amount, currency, or tracking number.
Control notifications individually
Enable only the SMS messages that are relevant to your business. Order confirmation, shipping, delivery, abandoned cart, and administrator notifications can each be managed separately.

Use Twilio’s SMS infrastructure

How it works
Twilio SMS Notifications sends automated text messages through the Twilio API whenever selected events occur in ReadyCMS.
Guide
Prepare your Twilio account
Create or sign in to your Twilio account and make sure that you have an SMS-capable Twilio phone number.
Depending on the countries where you plan to send messages, additional Twilio registration or sender verification requirements may apply.
Add your Twilio credentials
Open the Twilio SMS Notifications settings in ReadyCMS and enter the required Twilio account credentials and sending phone number.
Make sure that the phone number is entered in the expected international format.
Enable customer notifications
Choose which order notifications customers should receive:
- Order created
- Order shipped
- Order delivered
- Abandoned cart recovery
Each notification type can be enabled or disabled independently.
Configure abandoned cart recovery
Enable abandoned-cart SMS messages and define how long ReadyCMS should wait before marking a cart as abandoned.
An hourly scheduled process checks eligible carts and sends recovery messages after the configured delay.
Create SMS templates
Write a separate message for each enabled notification type.
Templates can include placeholders that are automatically replaced with the relevant customer and order information. Available placeholders include:
{orderNumber}{customerName}{total}{currency}{trackingNumber}
For example:
Hi{customerName}, your order{orderNumber}has been shipped. Tracking number:{trackingNumber}.Only use placeholders that contain information available for the selected notification event.
-
Configure administrator notifications
Add the phone numbers of the administrators who should receive an SMS when a new order is created.
You can create a separate custom template for administrator messages, such as:
New order
{orderNumber}received. Total:{total}{currency}. -
