Version 3.0.62 introduces Product recommendations, a complete ReadyCMS plugin that combines behavioral learning, manual product curation, and API support.
Product recommendations helps stores surface relevant products throughout the customer journey. It learns from real shopper behavior, understands catalog relationships and page context, and gives store teams full control over the products they want to prioritize.
What’s new?
1) Product recommendations plugin
The new Product recommendations plugin uses real store and shopper data to automatically surface products that are more likely to be relevant to each customer.
The recommendation engine analyzes signals such as:
- Product views
- Add-to-cart activity
- Completed orders
- Product and category relationships
- Brand and page context
- Session behavior
- Manually curated product links
Daily and weekly analysis processes keep recommendation data up to date as your catalog, traffic, and customer behavior change.
The plugin can support several recommendation scenarios, including trending, related, and similar products; personalized feeds; cart cross-sells, upsells, and alternatives; accessories; and new arrivals.
2) Context-aware recommendation engine
Product recommendations consider where the customer is browsing and what they have already interacted with.
Category and brand pages can display suggestions that match the current context, while product pages can surface closely related items based on catalog data and real shopper behavior.
Similar-product relationships are calculated across the full catalog, helping stores with larger product ranges generate meaningful connections between products.
Recommendation scoring prioritizes stronger and more relevant relationships, while batched processing keeps catalog analysis efficient as the number of products and interactions grows.
3) Recommendations for every stage of the customer journey
The plugin supports recommendation blocks across different parts of the storefront.
Stores can use recommendations to:
- Highlight currently popular products
- Show related products on product pages
- Suggest complementary items in the cart
- Recommend alternatives when a product is not the right fit
- Promote accessories and compatible products
- Build personalized feeds from session activity
- Surface new arrivals when behavioral data is still limited
Recommendations remain available even for new stores or products without enough interaction data. When necessary, the engine automatically uses suitable fallback results, such as trending products or new arrivals.
4) API and headless support
Dedicated API endpoints make Product recommendations available to headless and custom storefronts.
Storefronts can request:
- Trending products
- Recommendations related to the product being viewed
- Category- and brand-relevant products
- Cart-level cross-sells
- Session-personalized recommendations
- Manually curated product relationships
The API is designed to return useful results even when limited behavioral data is available, using fallback recommendations when necessary.
This allows teams to build custom recommendation interfaces while relying on ReadyCMS for the underlying analysis, scoring, and tracking.
5) Manual product curation
Automated recommendations can be combined with relationships selected directly by store teams.
A Related products tab is available on every product edit page, where admins can manage:
- Upsells
- Cross-sells
- Alternatives
- Accessories
Manually curated products are displayed before algorithmic results, making it possible to prioritize important commercial relationships while using automated recommendations to complete the selection.
This is particularly useful for compatible accessories, replacement products, bundles, seasonal campaigns, and other relationships that the recommendation engine should always respect.
Relevant products, backed by real behavior
Version 3.0.62 gives stores a complete system for creating, delivering, controlling, and measuring product recommendations.
Teams can use automated behavioral learning, manually prioritize important product relationships, and build custom headless implementations.
